Word of Mouth Monday- Real Sex for Real Women

Today's WOMM is brought to you by a crazed wife who has been home with the injured, narc'd up firefighter for an ENTIRE WEEK! Please pray that his doctor's appointment goes well and he goes BACK TO WORK!

Don't you just love the title? Well, I can tell you from five years experience as a sex educator of REAL Women, this book couldn't hit the shelves fast enough! I've seen a real shift in the views of women in just the past five years. I come into contact with so many women who are ready to take charge of their sex lives, their sexual health and their pleasure.

Dr. Laura Berman wrote this book and will be appearing on Oprah on Monday, November 3rd to talk about it.  You won't be sorry you watched, Dr. Berman is an amazing woman with incredible knowledge and research behind each of her best selling books.  Tell all of your girl friends to watch and while you are at it you ought to plan your own fun girls' night out!  Contact me, I have team members all over the country and can hook you up with a distributor in your area.  If you want to educate and empower women about their sexual health, let me know, I'm happy to tell you all about it.

Word of Mouth Monday- brought to you by Narcs and Valium

Mr. Man continues to heal and now that the nerve block has worn off we are thanking God for Narcs and Valium and Red Box.

Today's Word of Mouth Monday is just something to make you laugh, doesn't cost any money. I can't take credit for the find, my friend, JC, found this and told me about it...THAT's the way word of mouth works!

So, go forth and make your tampon Holiday decorations. There is something there for Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, you name it and a simple tampon can be transformed. I'm thinking these are great "You're in Menopause" party favors or activities!

Word of Mouth Monday --Tribes & #GNO

This word of Mouth Monday is brought to you by Seth Godin's latest and greatest book, Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us ".

It just came in the mail and it's all I can do to not run to my room, fake a fever and read all night. Two things would happen, one, I'd be done with the book in a couple hours and two, I'd have to miss my meeting tonight. So, you're in luck when I tell you I am going to post this Word of Mouth a little early and get to my meeting and read up the rest of this delicious book tomorrow while everyone is at school!

The book is about leadership, joining, belonging and following as well. All this social media is charming, but how do you put it all together? Where do you fit in and where have your found your kind of peeps?

My Word of Mouth Monday today is about this fantastic phenomenon Twitter, but more specifically Girls Night Out that happens every Tuesday night. (I'm by NO means any sort of expert on Twitter, although I did take this great Twitter webinar last week.) I'm going to link here to a few different places for you to find out more about Girls' Night Out or #gno which is what you put into each Tweet on Tuesday nights to follow along with the other amazing women who show up to connect, network and just chat with the girls. Here are the Top 10 Reasons to join in on Tuesday's Twitter GNO. Really, I'll be totally honest and tell you that it is a bit overwhelming at first, but if you hang in there with a sense of humor, you'll get the hang of it too!

Carissa @ GoodNCrazy and Jyl @ MommyGossip

Then after I was on GNO for a bit I also went to check out Twittermoms.com, holy cow, a whole new world over there! You can find me at Twittermoms by clicking on the link below. So fun for this techie geek!

If you have your own Word of Mouth topic, go ahead and link to it in the comments section! I'm not going to bother Mr. Linky this week, he's getting upset with me.

Insider's Guide to Target Shopping

As an avid shopper at Target and reader of blogs, I see a common trend...many of us seem to love the feeling of $50+ dollars being sucked from our pockets every time we step foot into this store!  I don't know about you, but I seriously can NOT step foot into that store for a roll of toilet paper, a simple gift bag or one tube of toothpaste without rolling out of there with a basket full half-full of at LEAST $50 worth of stuff I never knew I couldn't live without!

Here are a few tips I've come across in my blog reading to make it either less painful or to make that $50 minimum stretch a little bit further.

First, we all know that the end caps house all the clearance and reduced priced items.  Some of the end caps are in the center aisle and the others are back along the outside wall.  What I did NOT know is that Target has a clearance schedule!  (If you don't have Blissfully Domestic in your blogroll or your reader, it is a MUST, these people have the shitizzle on all things hip, hot and hoppin'.)  (I just copy them)

Target also takes all sorts of coupons as well as various printables from their own website.  I had not idea about this, but why would I?  I'm a total goober where coupons are concerned, but this Target printable coupon idea made me salivate a little which is my body's way of telling me to pay attention.

My word of mouth Monday two weeks ago featured a little gem found at Target, check it out!  What can't YOUR family live without at Target??

Word of Mouth Monday- - Books

Anyone else hate shoe shopping with children? "Where is your toe? Wiggle it? Is that it there? Does it feel like you have enough room? Well, is there TOO much room? Can you run? Let's see. Does that hurt?" All of these questions are met with indignant responses, "Yes, that's my toe! There is a little room. I can run! Watch me!" Zoom, Zoom, apologies in my head to the shoppers who have to dodge my speed demon in the new shoes. Get the damn shoes home and walking to school "They hurt my heel." "Tough you are wearing them." Tears, more tears, "But they hurt and I can't run." Losing it, "I SAW YOU RUN! You ran all over the store!"

grrrr

So, Word of Mouth Monday is brought to you by another round of shoe shopping! It has nothing to do with shoes, but it DOES have to do with my FAV.OR.ITE subject....BOOKS, oh glorious books!! If I could I would work in a bookstore where the main task is to read the books. Huh? I'd have to actually work? Forget it, I'll just use this next service that is literally making my mouth water! I loved school simply because I got to get new books every semester!

You've all heard of Netflix right?  Well, BookSwim takes that same principle and apply it to books.  You choose your plan, 3, 5, 7 or 9 books at a time.  Keep them for as long as you like, send them back with FREE shipping and then get the next set from your "pool" list.  It gets even better!  Let's say you are a geek like me and you love business books and you end up highlighting the book, turning down pages, taking notes in the margin, well,  simply let BookSwim know and you can buy the book!  I love the try it before you buy it approach.

Is it just me or are you drooling right now?  Us geeks need to stick together.  It saves on gas, the shipping is free and really, could anything be better than a package on your porch with a new book just waiting for you?  The one thing I was worried about was that they might not have all the books I wanted, so I checked out my favorite authors, Seth Godin, Jeffrey Gittomer, Jack Canfield and it looked like they had most of their stuff. ( I warned you I'm a geek, but didn't warn you that sales and marketing and SUCCESS are my biggest interests.)

Mom and dad (who don't read my blog) and Aunt Sheri and Angie, doesn't this sound like something you could sink your teeth into?  How about the rest of you?

What book are YOU reading right now?  I'm reading How Starbucks Saved My Life.

Word of Mouth Monday- - Magic Balm

Today's Word of Mouth is going to be short and to the point. I have a party I am planning with 200 invites going out today. Can you say frazzled??

This Wonderbalm is truly the needle in the haystack but can be found at Target if you get your eyes open.  Why would you want it or need it?  Remember back to the Ped Egg (still a fav) but as we get into the winter months, and it is DRY here in Colorado, my cuticles and hands get really dry.  My heels actually get a break from flip flops, but they still drink up this stuff.  It smells heavenly with the sage.  I usually put it on my cuticles and heels right before bed and I like it because it doesn't feel all greasy.

You can find it at Target (mine is a Super Target) and it is on an aisle near all the cosmetics.  The cap on the aisle says "Boots"  in cursive.  I swear I never noticed this before someone sent me to get this stuff.

Does anyone think "Wonderbalm" is going to get me some freaky traffic?

I've gotten some emails about how to use Mr. Linky. I'm not only going to tell you HOW to use it, buy WHY you'd want to!

Step #1: Blog about a product or service on your blog.
Step #2: Publish your post.
Step #3: View your post and put your mouse over the title of the post, right click (sorry, not sure on a Mac, maybe Headless can comment and tell us for the Mac users)
then click "copy shortcut."
Step #4: Come back over here and then paste your shortcut into the Mr. Linky Widget. Be sure to also put your name or the name of your blog.
Easy!!

The reasons why you'd want to:
#1 It's fun!
#2 It gets you traffic!
#3 You get to participate and find some really great products, websites, services, etc.
#4 It helps you in the search engines to have links to your site all over the place!

If you want Mr. Linky for YOUR carnival, simply follow the link at the bottom of the box, sign up (it's free) and follow the directions.  If you run into trouble let me know I am happy to help!

Don't just sit there, get goin'! BTW, if it is no longer Monday, you can still post Mr. Linky won't refress until the following Monday!

Check out A Soft Place to Land, she is having a Halloween Party today!

Word of Mouth Monday- Piggy Roo

Today's Word of Mouth Monday is for anyone who has children or knows children.  Piggy Roo isn't your typical toy store.  Their toys are unique, high quality and  the prices can NOT be beat!  Their quality and the customer service is top notch.  I have been shopping with Piggy Roo for the last 4 years and everything I have ever bought has not only been tops in quality, but so much more original than a toy from Target.
My most recent purchase was a set of these darling Dirty Dogs for a friend's 2 1/2 year old daughter.  The 4 dogs come with dirty spots and a wash cloth for scrubbing them "clean" in the water.  My 6 year old wanted me to open the package and let her play with them first.  Our friend's daughter was in the water with the dogs within minutes of opening it!  I noticed when I went to the site to steal snag these pictures that these are on SALE!!  (you can thank me later)
This next picture doesn't do these toys justice.  The boat has a hidden cabin and a spring board for diving.  Each toy comes with a person and the fact that this toy can be played with on land or in water makes it that much more appealing!  It was a total hit with our friend's daughter as well.  Check out the Safari Set, the Firetruck and the Pony Set it is no wonder they are some of the most popular toys on Piggy Roo.  They are sturdy, high quality and sure to hold up to any adventure your little ones put them through.
OK, your turn!  Go to your blog and post about a product or service, then come back here and put the URL for your post into Mr Linky.  If you don't have a blog (and even if you do) go ahead and leave a comment in the comments section below.

Word of Mouth Monday- Tuesday Edition!

I've been a little MIA around here, but bring you this WOMM fresh off a 5 day retreat in Breckenridge Colorado with some of direct sales' hottest minds. I should be posting about my favorite new shot, but will hold off until I can do a post that will do it justice!
So, we laughed and ate, and drank and ate, and slept and ate and this next product is my new favorite and will be yours too. Seriously, I must have been living under a rock somewhere because this weekend was the first time I have ever seen these.
I made chili (recipe to follow) and it was a mess, Tiffany made her Creole Steak and clean up was easy breezy!
These Reynolds slow cooker liners are DA BOMB!!! It is getting cooler out and with football games it is the perfect time to dust off the Crock Pot and pull out your best recipes. We will try Mr. Linky one.last.time. Here are the details with a twist. This time you are either going to post your favorite slow cooker recipe on your blog and come back here with your link OR you can do your own favorite product. If you do not have a blog don't worry you can post your recipe in the comments section below!!!
I KNOW Headless mom is all over this one, she has some serious slow cooker skillz! So let's have it, I really need some yummy stuff to feed my family, they are sick of chicken nuggets!
I can't take credit for this delicious and sinfully easy Chili recipe as it came from my bff, BUT she doesn't have a blog so I have officially re-named it:
~Kelly's Kick Ass Chili~

1 1/2- 2 lb browned ground beef
2 cans tomato sauce**
2 cans chili beans in chili sauce (Kuner's)
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 packet chili seasoning
cayenne pepper to liking
Put in crock pot, cook on low for 6-8 hours
serve with cheese, chopped onions and cornbread! YUM!!
OK, your turn, continue the comment love and read about blog etiquette if necessary!

**Edited to correct chili recipe**

Word of Mouth Monday- Your Face Has Never Felt This Clean!

I must be looking a little sluggish.  I was out to lunch with two friends  last week and they started talking about this scrub they use on their face.  Being that I spent a good chunk of change on the stuff I am using on my face right now, I only half wanted to hear about this other product.  I have to admit, however, that my stuff doesn't include any sort of scrub that is going to help lighten these age spots freckles. Or polish and smooth or mop up the free radicals that are no doubt using my spotted face as a playground or big connect the dots puzzle.  They both got so darn giddy about this stuff and were agast when I said I didn't use this product.  Maybe they weren't "agast", but I wanted to use that word so go with me here.  We were near an Origins Store (find one near you) so they decided we should go there.  Soon I was scrubbing the free radicals and working at doing away with the uneven patches of skin in the store without a care.  This was one of those hands on experiences.  I have to just mention here that the woman that was helping us had the lightest touch as she doused me with toner, serum, moisturizer, eye cream, you know the works.  It made me realize that my face darn near gets a beating when I put anything on it or take anything off of it.  So, note to self, be nicer to my aging face.  I'm sorry, I digress... so this Modern Friction stuff was the second thing she did to me and my friends were there giddily waiting for me to wash it off and join the club.  And.I.Did.  Off came the scrub and my skin felt heavenly, just heavenly.  I sat there rubbing my hands all over my freshly cleaned and scrubbed face.  Can you imagine the thoughts running through the woman's mind who was helping me?  "You idiot, no wonder your face looks like shit, you keep touching it like that and you'll have more zits than a 14 year old fry cook."  I don't really get zits (don't be jealous, I have my own crosses to bear) but I will if I keep molesting my face that way.  Oh, no I can imagine the g00gle hits I'll get with that one.

I, obviously, bought the Modern Friction face scrub and I have used it twice since and have to tell you that my face does indeed feel great.  The jury is still out on if it is going to lighten the sun spots or how my "fine" or not so fine lines are shaping up.  I'll have to report back on that in a few weeks.  For now, I am loving the citrus scent, how soft and smooth my skin feels and the fact that after all that scrubbing my face is not in the least peely or dry.  I'm off this week to Breckenridge for a training and I am bringing it to try on the other 10 gals staying at the house.

I love to pass on a product or service that works for me, hence, the Word of Mouth Monday Carnival each week.  It's funny, because I get emails from people who have either tried or purchased the things I have written about here, but participation is dismal.  Don't you all have things you LOVE?  Don't keep it a secret, let us know about it!

Post about it at your blog, then come here and put it in Mr. Linky.  Got a carnival going on over at your place?  Post a comment here, and let us know about it!

Word of Mouth Monday-- OPI

I love, love, L.O.V.E the soft shades of OPI. Try out this totally cool color picker to choose the OPI shade that goes best with your skin tone.  My favorite color right now is A Peony For Your Thoughts.  When my gal pal Amy took me to the spa this is the color I chose and I love how clean and subtle the color is.
If you go to get your nails done and the salon does NOT use  OPI you should do an about face and say see ya later Gator.  OPI is the industry standard for a reason.  Yes, it costs a little more, but it also lasts longer and I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for."
How about a little nail salon humor?  If you haven't seen it you are in for a treat and if you have it's an oldie, but a goodie.  Anjela Johnson is hilarious!

Your turn!!! Post your Word of Mouth product post on your blog, then come back here and put your link in Mr. Linky! If you don't have a blog go ahead and post your product in the comments section. The only rule is that you can not be getting paid for your review. Anything goes, a product, a service, a food, a store...and it can be a positive or a negative review.

Word of Mouth Monday- Labor Day Edition

Happy Labor Day!  Please take a moment and send your prayers and well wishes to the Gulf Coast and tell Gustov that he is an unwelcome visitor on this day of BBQ, picnics and respite from the work week!

Our WOM today pays homage to the Gulf as this company is based in Baton Rouge and is currently holding down the fort.  For 15 years, Slumber Parties has been educating and empowering women around sexual health.  They were ranked by Inc 5000 two years in a row as one of the fastest growing privately held companies. If you have never been to one of these women ONLY home shows, put your pre-conceived ideas aside.  As much as the men in your life might try to convince you, there are NO pillow fights in lingerie happening at these parties.  Just adult women getting together over a glass (or 3) of wine, giggling and laughing about sex and in the mean time getting educated about spicing up the bedroom.  Every.single.woman wants to be good in bed or better in bed or at least in the mood every now and again.  I don't know anyone who likes to get her lubricant at the Walgreens with her daughter's soccer coach in line behind her, better yet, who wants to step foot into a dirty.book.store for such things?  Even Katie Couric wondered why she hadn't been invited to one yet!

Every woman deserves a satisfying sex life and no matter how HOT you think yours is, there are always fun ways to make it more exciting.  Keep the butterflies in YOUR bedroom is what I say.  The best part of the Slumber Parties (BTW, this is NOT a sleep over) are that women get to take HOME their products the night of the party! SAWEET!!!

So, now it is YOUR turn (hi Steph, my loyal WOM'er).  Review a product or service on your blog or simply post about it in the comments.  Then come back here and link to your post in Mr. Linky.

Word of Mouth Monday- MAC Moisture Cover

Today's Word of Mouth Monday is brought to you by MAC, the mother of all makeup. Don't stop reading there because of your preconceived ideas about MAC makeup. Yes, it is pricey and YES the people who work the counter wear more makeup than most do on Halloween. BUT they know their way around a face and that alone is reason to give them the benefit of doubt. I will tell you now that my makeup bag is full of stuff from Walgreens and I have been using Mabelline since I was old enough to get an allowance. With that said, you MUST listen to me when I tell you that I have those DARK circles under my eyes, the ones that no matter how late I am to take the kids to school, I will run back upstairs to dab this miracle cover up under my eyes!

Here's what the MAC copywriters have to say about it, but I think I did a pretty good job of explaining it myself: "A luxuriously blendable moisturizing concealer in a tube with built-in doe-foot applicator. Goes on exactly where you want it: blends in for a natural satin-smooth ultra-moisturized finish. Layers up for added coverage." My suggestion is to go to the counter and have the professionals decide which color is right for you, but if you are eager beaver about it all you can buy it here for $15.50.

Below is a makeup tutorial and YES, she uses the MAC Select Moisture Cover!! You can thank me later!

NOW, it's YOUR turn! Go to your blog and write up your review. Remember, it can't be a review you area getting paid for. Then come back here and put your link in Mr. Linky. Leave me a comment too. Currently, as many of you have pointed out, you can not view the comments, but they are there and I am working daily on getting it fixed! (uggghhh) So, once it is fixed there you'll be!

Word of Mouth Monday - Touch Up Stick

Today's Word of Mouth product is one I only recently came across, and BOY do I wish I has found this one sooner! Those of us with dark hair know the immediate effects of a little (or a lot) of grey on the part. The ol' skunk! I don't know about you, but I hate being forced to get the roots touched up every 4-6 or for those of us who don't have the money care it might be more like 8 weeks and we look like this:

This little cheap product found at Walgreens is simply called Touch up Stick by Fanciful. Easy breesy, wet the tip and stroke it (ohh I can just see the hits I'm going to get now) on the roots. It washes out with your next shampoo and no one is the wiser. Totally worth it (it was under $8) and it really is great to have on hand.

Put YOUR favorite product or service in Mr. Linky or if you are lazy just post yours in the comments!

Word of Mouth Monday- Jott

Word of Mouth Monday

Welcome to Word of Mouth Monday! Feel free to copy the html and invite your readers to join in WOMM with a button in your post or on your blog! Spread the love!

Go post your own review, then come back here and put a link in Mr Linky!

Today's review is best explained with a few examples:
Me (in my head): "Damn, I keep forgetting to write that post about my uterus falling out. I wish I wasn't driving right now or I would write myself a note not to forget. Oh, wait! I can use Jott!"
Me: (picking up the phone and auto dialing the Jott number)
Jott: "Who do you want to Jott?"
Me: "Myself."
Jott: "Ok, Jott yourself, beep"
Me: "Don't forget the post about your uterus falling out."
Jott: "Got it!"

When I get home I have LONG forgotten about the uterus post. I head to my computer and there in my inbox is an email from Jott. It says, "Don't forget the post about your uterus falling out." PLUS it has a little button at the bottom of the email that allows me to LISTEN to the message as well. HOW TOTALLY COOL?!

Next example:
Me (standing at football practice talking about Olivia Newton John): "Oh, crap, I forgot to let everyone know that the meeting got moved from my house to Lori's house." I dial Jott on my cell phone.
Jott: "Who do you want to Jott?"
Me: "The team."
Jott: "Ok, Jott the team. Beep."
Me: "Hey everyone the meeting is going to be at Lori's house, not mine."
Jott: "Got it!"
Jott then sends an email out to everyone on my team (I have set this up before hand).

Let's say you have a dad who is completely computer illiterate. His name might or might not be "my dad". Not to worry, you can set Jott up to email OR text!

I know you are all drooling at the thought of being able to TEXT while you are driving. I know some of you text AND drive, I have seen you and your weaving death mobile. So, let me just add one last juicy nugget to seal the deal. (oh and I have NO DEAL, Jott doesn't know I exist, but I would be happy to have a Jott ad over on the sidebar) Anyhoo, back to the nugget. No special equipment needed, this is included and did I mention FREE? When Jott emails you with the transcribed message...it also adds a link at the bottom to click and HEAR the audio as well.

Jott.com----totally cool, free, and it has a zillion different uses.

I also use mine for grocery lists, tracking mileage for my homebased business, brain dumping when I can't sleep, sending mass messages and it is just one more tool (besides Ginkgo Biloba) that helps me with my horrid memory!

Check out previous WOMM!

Did I mention that the Apple just added Jott as an app for the iphone?

OK, it's late and I just can't figure it out, but Mr. Linky is bringing up the posts from the last time. I'm sure they won't mind having their links and their great reviews up for another day, but can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? anyone? anyone?

Are you Ready for Word of Mouth Monday???!!!

Word of Mouth Monday

Tomorrow we try this all over again! I'm really excited about the service I am going to feature tomorrow! It will help you bloggers capture all those great posts running around in your heads, it will organize you and simply put it will make life easier. This is the ultimate in brain dump tools and totally techie, so right up my alley and BEST OF ALL-----> Free, the little fucker is FREE!!!

So, write up YOUR product or service review, post it to your blog, then come back HERE and link to your post! Oh the fun we'll have creating word of mouth about stuff you really should spend your money on! (or in my case, get all for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

P.S. don't laugh at my first effort at button making, I'm pretty impressed being that I have never done it before AND I don't have photoshop!!! So, now if I can clear it up and make it a clickable button for sharing I'll be all kinds of jazzed. Clearly I am not in marketing, but it will do for a first try. I tell ya, I have emailed several other bloggers asking about this mad skill that I do not possess, crickets, I tell ya, not ONE response. This blogosphere isn't as friendly as it thinks it is. BUT, it would make for a great post oh knowledgeable ones, I know I'd link to it again and again!

Word of Mouth Monday

Welcome to Word of Mouth Monday!!
Being that I have had total CHAOS with my site and my attempt to load Blogger in Draft Comments I am going to skip the product I had chosen and instead give some more Word of Mouth to Shauna of See My Designs by Shauna. She created my beautiful blog design (if you are reading this on Monday you'll have to come back tomorrow to check it out) about 3 months ago when I was brand new with my blog. She was AMAZING! Not only did she respond promptly, she asked a few questions by email and then worked her magic. I loved the first design and it was up and running in about 2 days. I am sure she has gotten much busier by then, but I just have to give a shout out to my girl crush Shauna for her prompt reply yesterday in my hour of neediness. She even emailed me this morning with an update on her time schedule. Oh.so.professional!!! AND she has a super cute and fun blog so check her out and if your blog is in need of a makeover or you just want a really fun button to giveaway to your bloggy friends, let her know she's a wiz and ubber creative. Oh and if you totally fug up your site, she's super understanding and cool. Not all, "You idiot of infinite proportions, how could you have messed up my handiwork?" Her design site shows all the OTHER cool sites who have taken advantage of her mastery so check them out too. Thanks in advance Shauna, you totally rock!
Now it's YOUR turn to make a post about a product or service on your blog, then come back here and put it in Mr. Linky. Leave a comment before you go with the kinds of things you like to see in a sidebar!

Oh crap on a cracker, I can't get Mr. Linky to work in this cruddy format so humor me and post in the comments and link back to your post. If you don't have a blog don't worry you can still participate. I hope I have been a good role model for the fact that any ol' idiot can get on the web!! We'll Shauna will get things going again soon!

Great examples of Word of Mouth

If you aren't familiar with the Will It Blend Videos go get a snack because you might just loose 10 minutes of your life watching more once you get going. Blendtec spent $50 on their first video and they have been going strong ever since! Within the first few days they had millions of views on YouTube. Some great ones to watch are the glowsticks, don't blend me bro, bottled beverage, and in celebration of the end of baseball, the baseball.

Watch one or many and it becomes obvious that the marketing of this product is brilliant! You don't go away from the videos feeling like they were trying to sell you, they make you laugh and they are chock FULL of keywords!!! Don't be surprised if they blend a Batman figurine or an Obama campaign sign.

The other one is the Bag of Crap from Woot.com. These cost $1 plus $5 shipping and there are videos popping up on YouTube of people opening and revealing what they got in their bag of crap. This kind of word of mouth doesn't cost Woot anything...again, just brilliant! No false advertising here, they say right up front that it is a bag of CRAP.

Word of Mouth Monday--The Carnival Starts HERE!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE a personal referral from a friend. I'm definitely someone who talks about the things I love and SCREAMS about the things I don't. So, this little idea popped into my head. Join in the Word of Mouth Carnival. Here's how: Post on your blog about a product or service that you love (or hate) and then come back here and put the link to that specific post in Mr. Linky. Be a love and post a comment here after you link. If you don't have a blog, no worries (mom) just post yours in the comments! Super simple, I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

The power of Word of Mouth is amazing. Duh, you're bloggers you already know that right?

Here's my pick of the week:

Olay body Quench Mousse is FANTASTIC! I live in a dry climate, no humidity and it doesn't matter if it is hot or cold here it is DRY here. The bottle says, "A little goes a long way" and it is NOT lying. My skin has never felt so soft and you can tell that it is indeed hydrating your skin all day. My favorite part is that the mousse goes right into your skin and doesn't leave you feeling the least bit greasy or sticky. In the sun there is the slightest hint of shimmer...no NOT Vegas Showgirl glitter, just a very subtle sheen.

This also passed the Vegas test along with the Bubba Keg. Try it, and report back.

In The Shack with my T-mobile Wing and Bubba Keg!

Word of mouth marketing. What a fantastic way to find the best pulled pork in town or the best summer blockbuster, or the easiest way to keep a tan or stay hydrated or even answer your deepest questions about God and faith. I know, it's all over the map, but that is how unsolicited PURE word of mouth works. It is also why a restaurant with a line a mile long is the place we all want to be instead of the one without any patrons. Word of mouth can also KILL a company's reputation, make it go out of business or single handedly stall a promotion. No amount of marketing dollars can pay for true unadulterated word of mouth and no amount of money can stop negative word of mouth once it gets out of hand. One thing I love about blogging is that I get to tell MY story in MY way, share MY opinions, tips, recipes, you name it. I guess that is why so many advertisers are after the "mommy bloggers" to make mention of their diapers, their books, their phone service, and are paying good $$ to those with the traffic for the prime real estate on their sidebars.

OK, just in case it needs to be pointed out....NO.ONE.IS.PAYING.ME.FOR.MY.OPINION. Which makes it even better because you'll know I'm just being honest. So, this week I am kicking off Word Of Mouth Monday and next week will start my very first Carnival with Mr. Linky and everything. I don't care what you suggest, but the rules are that you can't be getting paid to promote and it. What books are you reading and loving, what restaurant keeps you coming back for more, what shampoo is making you tell someone and so on and so on?

Here are my three picks for this week:

I told you I would post about the best book ever that made me cry a river and almost shrivel up in a dehydrated mess.

First let me tell you that a friend mentioned this book a few months ago and said that she wouldn't be able to get through it. I remember walking away thinking, "Is she really THAT fragile? What could be in a book that would be THAT hard to get through?" Imagine my surprise when I called a friend saying,"I don't know if I can finish the book, it's too hard." I was only 186 pages into it and I felt the same way my other friend did." I am so glad that my friend told me to promise I would keep reading. I did and I finished the book a day later.

I won't spoil it, but The Shack by William P. Young is truly one of the best books I have ever read. It made me think about life and death and the death of a child in a way that I NEVER would have thought I could. It gave me more insight into God's love for me, for all of us. It made me cry tears of sadness and grief, it made me smile and think and cry all over again this time with tears of happiness and it gave me hope and it took away some fear of the unknown. It made me hug my children a little closer and a little longer than usual and it made me want to tell friends. Keep in mind, however that this book was written not for a mass audience, but for his children. It is FICTION, but it does a fantastic job of stirring up some thought provoking ideas and questions.

Yes, I'm still in L.O.V.E. with my T-Mobile Wing. Even more so since last night I found a site where I can download the iphone skin!!! Now I can have all the features and look of the iphone with the added benefits of Windows Mobile and stick with my T-Mobile service. I'm a techie geek and I stand proud! Oh and the fact that I had a promotion code and got the phone for $50 makes it even more exciting!

I took my next favorite with me to Vegas for the hot car test and it passed with FLYING colors! The Bubba Keg jumped out at me one day while I was at Target getting the money sucked from my pockets. That place is amazing, seriously. Anyhoo, The Bubba Keg brags that it will keep liquids cold for 12 hours and warm for 4. I didn't really believe it when I bought it , I was a sucker for the cute PINK and the fact that it would fit in my cup holder. If you can't stand it you can go here to get it now. The fact that mine has a bottle opener right on the handle is like Christmas came early!

So, in Vegas I filled my Bubba Keg up with ice and water and headed out for the day with my dear friend Linda. She is from Vegas and thought it comical that I would bring along my own mug. Little did she know I was doing RESEARCH! I left it in the car when we went looking for crap junk souvenirs for my kids. When we came back after 2 hours (mind you 105 degree heat outside = like a gazillion degrees in the car) and not only was my drink cold, the ICE was still in there! Linda my little desert friend was moderately impressed. Sheesh, what do you have to do to get a little excitement out of these Vegas locals? Sing like Cher, prance like Sigfried and Roy, dance like a show girl? Well, hours into the night when we were heading home and MY water was STILL cool (not cold, but what do you people want from me)!

So, the Bubba Keg gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from me!

I can't wait to hear what floats YOUR boat. Post in the comments this week and get your post ready on your blog for next week when Mr. Linky is up and running!
